ICT contractors must find out if the fibre run is going to be affected before starting any work on schools. Our guidance provides the appropriate steps required.

Moving or re-running cables

The fibre cable is fragile and must only be moved or re-run by a fibre company authorised by the network fibre provider (in most cases, Chorus).

Moving cables can take several months, depending on the size and complexity of the changes required.

Step 1: Plan

Plan the time and cost for moving this cable as part of the project.

The work needs to be scoped, quoted, and agreed before it can be carried out.

Step 2: Contact Network 4 Learning (N4L)

Contact Network 4 Learning (N4L) with all the information you have, including drawings of the changes.
