The Ngarimu Academic Scholarships recognise excellence in education, performance, and achievement. They are awarded to exceptional ākonga Māori who are enrolling in or undertaking university or wānanga study.
These prestigious scholarships are funded by the Ngarimu VC and 28th (Māori) Battalion Memorial Scholarship Fund Board with the purpose of honouring Victoria Cross recipient Second Lieutenant Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa Ngarimu and the 28th (Māori) Battalion.
The 25 Ngarimu Academic Scholarships open for applications include:
- 3 Undergraduate scholarships, each valued up to $30,000: $10,000 per year of full-time study for up to 3 years.
- 1 Master scholarship valued up to $20,000: $10,000 per year of full-time study for up to 2 years.
- 1 Master of Education research scholarship valued up to $20,000: $10,000 per year of full-time study, for up to 2 years.
- 1 Doctoral scholarship valued up to $40,000: $20,000 per year of full-time study for up to 2 years.
