What regrading is

When we settle a pay equity claim, we move covered employees from an old pay scale to a new one. If the grade we move the employee to in the new scale does not accurately reflect the work they do, schools and kura may apply for pay equity regrading.

In the teacher aide pay equity claim settlement, regrade funding is known as exceptional translation funding (ETF).

Regrade applications must be received by a cut-off date outlined in the settlement. Applications are closed for all current pay equity settlements.

Funding for regrading

We provide funding to schools and kura for approved and partially approved regrading applications. We make an annual payment on 1 April for the confirmed hours the employee worked in the previous year. You can view this in Pourato as the payment type Non-Teach support PE and CA funding.

Before you receive this payment, you will get a funding letter via the Secure Data Portal. It breaks down the funding payment by employee.

How we calculate regrade funding

We work out regrade funding for each employee by taking the difference between their approved regrade rate on the old scale and their original rate, and multiplying by total hours worked.
