When peer review is needed
It is always good practice to have an application peer reviewed. Peer review is a requirement where:
- an application is for items over the value of $5,000
- an application is one of the first 2 applications you have submitted.
Peer reviewing is optional for applications which don't meet these conditions.
What the peer reviewer does
The peer reviewer checks the completed application before submission. They check that the application:
- has correct details of the student and information about the equipment needed
- has agreed assessment process developed by the student's learning support team.
The peer reviewer will provide suggestions for change where required. They can also help to improve clarity.
Peer reviewers can use our moderation checklist for their review.
Finding a peer reviewer
A peer reviewer has knowledge of the devices requested in the application. They must:
- have completed more than 2 assistive technology applications themselves
- not currently be working with the nominated student.
They could be in a different school or region to you.
For complex and very expensive applications, you can request for a learning support specialist in a different region to review the application.
If there is no one suitable to peer review your application, you can request a review from the local assistive technology coordinator.
