Benefits of purchasing through the contract

Thanks to the thorough process used to establish this contract, the Ministry has secured favorable terms, conditions, and pricing with Azwood.

Pricing benefits

  • Better pricing - likely to be lower than what any supplier outside the contract would offer to an individual school.
  • Delivery included in per-tonne price, so schools won’t be penalized for placing regular orders.
  • Pricing is set by region, reducing the risk of schools being disadvantaged due to their distance from Azwood’s site.
  • Annual pricing adjustment will be made based on market conditions. Otherwise, the pricing remains fixed.

Product and service benefits

  • Azwood pellets are ENplus A1 certified, meaning they meet the top-grade A1 premium quality standards.
  • Azwood will deliver the pellets via blower truck (unless in unforeseen/exceptional circumstances).
  • Azwood will contact schools to see if they want a pellet top-up whenever their delivery truck is in your area.
  • Greater assurance of a steady supply of high-quality wood pellets.
  • The option for a participating school and Azwood to create a School Access Plan (SAP) for when Azwood visits the school site.

Supplier profile

Azwood is a manufacturer of biomass wood pellets and the only producer of EnplusA1 certified wood pellet fuel in Australasia. With over 10 years of experience serving our institutions, Azwood ensures reliable and consistent delivery to keep schools warm.

In recent years, Azwood has worked with the Ministry to support the decarbonisation programme, helping them better understand schools' needs for reliable warmth and comfort.
