Reporting requirements

Approved ICT contractors must:

  • provide a report to us each year of all projects worked on
  • inform us if you discover any issues or work that does not meet our standards.

Warranty requirements for ICT installations

Warranties supplied for ICT installations and upgrades must meet these standards.

Warranties for cable infrastructure

2 types of warranties are required:

  1. Installation warranty: a 2-year installation warranty covering any installation defects by the ICT contractor at no cost to us or the school.
  2. Manufacturer's warranty: the cabling product supplier's warranty must cover a minimum 20-year period for performance.

Warranties for active equipment

Some manufacturer warranties can be extended through the central procurement agreement we hold with some of the approved product providers.

Wireless hardware

2 types of warranties are required:

  1. A 90-day onsite maintenance warranty that includes labour. Any wireless network operational failures must be fixed during this warranty period.
  2. A 5-year manufacturer warranty from the wireless product supplier on product performance. This is for replacement or repair of systems or components and labour if they fail to meet the specified performance standards.

Network switches

We need a 5-year manufacturer's warranty from the supplier for product performance. This is for replacement or repair of systems or components and labour if they fail to meet the specified performance standards.

Moving a fibre connection

Fibre cable must only be moved or re-run by a fibre company authorised by the network fibre provider. In most cases the provider is Chorus.

  1. Plan the time and cost for moving this cable as part of the project. The work needs to be scoped, quoted, and agreed before it can be carried out.
  2. Contact Network 4 Learning (N4L) with all the information you have, including drawings of the changes.
