What to do at the time of an accident or incident

The driver or transport service provider (TSP) is responsible for contacting emergency services immediately.

The TSP must follow their own emergency procedures. They must also immediately contact:

  • bus controllers at the schools serviced by the route
  • our regional transport contract manager.

The bus controller will contact principals at any affected schools.

If there are serious injuries or death, the Police are responsible for contacting whānau | families.

What to do after an accident or incident

The TSP must create an incident report in Pokapū Waka Kura about the accident or incident as soon as possible. This must be no longer than 48 hours after the accident or incident.

Our transport contract manager will liaise between the TSP and schools as needed.

The Police and WorkSafe will investigate notifiable events.
