Most teachers employed by one of the 33 Kindergarten Associations will be covered by:
- the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers’ Collective Agreement [PDF, 421 KB] (KTCA), or
- the Individual Employment Agreement (IEA) [PDF, 29 KB], with terms and conditions similar to the KTCA.
You are covered by the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers’ Collective Agreement if your work is covered by this agreement, and you’re a member of the kindergarten teachers’ union, the New Zealand Educational Institute – NZEI Te Riu Roa (NZEI).
You need to sign an individual employment agreement (IEA) if your work is covered by this agreement but you are not a member of the NZEI. Your IEA will be Ministry promulgated, which means the Ministry of Education develops and approves the IEA. The terms and conditions of your work are similar to the collective agreement.
To confirm your work is covered by this agreement you can read the full coverage text from the Kindergarten Teachers’ Collective Agreement, Part 1, 1.3.
We've published the Collective Agreements as PDF's and will be publishing them as web pages as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you have any queries or would like an accessible copy of these Collectives, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
This page provides an Individual Employment Agreement (IEA) for Kindergarten Teachers who are not members of the New Zealand Educational Institute Te Riu Roa. The terms and conditions of employment of this IEA are those of the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers' Collective Agreement with all the necessary modifications applicable to an IEA for this group of employees.
The effective date for this IEA is from the date of signing, which can be no earlier than the date of promulgation, 1 June 2017.
If you have difficulty accessing the PDF version of this Individual Employment Agreement, please contact email@example.com.
