Proposed amendments to the Education and Training Act 2020

The Ministry of Education is seeking feedback on some proposed amendments to the Education and Training Act 2020 (the Act).

Changes to maintain the health and function of the regulatory system

These proposals are intended to maintain the health and function of the education regulatory system and include:

  • enabling the Tertiary Education Commission to assign, use, and collect unique identifiers for research initiatives for the Performance-Based Research Fund or other similar research initiatives, and
  • extending the strike notification period to more than the current 3 calendar days to provide schools, parents and whānau with more time to prepare.
