Curriculum update

The consultation for Years 7 to 13 English is underway until 13 June 2025 and feedback is strongly encouraged.

Years 7 to 13 English learning area open for feedback – Tāhūrangi

The consultation presents an important opportunity for teachers, kaiako, principals, tumuaki and other experts to help shape learning content that is internationally comparable, relevant and fit for purpose.

To accompany and support the draft Years 7 to 13 English learning area, we are also releasing a draft list of suggested texts that align to and exemplify the range, form and complexity of texts outlined in the curriculum. This draft resource includes limited examples only and is not representative of a comprehensive list. Using feedback from you, it will be extended, further developed and released with the final English learning area.

This milestone follows the release of the Years 9 to 13 maths learning area and Years 7 to 13 Te Reo Rangatira and Years 9 to 13 Pāngarau wāhanga ako in late January.
