Have your say on changes to the Education and Training Act 2020

The Ministry of Education is seeking feedback on some proposed amendments to the Education and Training Act 2020 (the Act).

Maintaining the health and function of the regulatory system 

These proposals are intended to maintain the health and function of the education regulatory system and include:

  • enabling the Tertiary Education Commission to assign, use, and collect unique identifiers for research initiatives for the Performance Based Research Fund or other similar research initiatives; and
  • extending the strike notification period to more than the current three calendar days to provide schools, parents and whānau with more time to prepare; and
  • clarifying the obligations and priorities for school boards by amending the objectives set out in section 127 of the Act and removing the statement of National Education and Learning Priorities.
