Entries open for 2019 Prime Minister’s Education Excellence Awards
We encourage all early learning services, kōhanga reo, ngā puna kohungahunga, kura and schools to enter this year’s Prime Minister’s Education Excellence Awards (PM Awards). Entries close 5 April 2019.
The annual awards celebrate outstanding education practices that support learners to succeed.
Ministry of Education Deputy Secretary for Early Learning and Student Achievement, Ellen MacGregor-Reid, says there are a few changes in this year’s awards that build on the event’s success during the previous years.
“This year’s Focus Prize is Excellence in Māori-medium Education, highlighting the great work happening in early learning services, kōhanga reo, ngā puna kohungahunga, school, kura and wharekura. The new category, Excellence in Health and Wellbeing Education, celebrates successful education practices that focus on enhancing student health and wellbeing to achieve learning outcomes,” says Ellen.
The 3 other categories are:
- Excellence in Engaging
- Excellence in Leading
- Excellence in Teaching and Learning
“Great teaching that’s focused on the learner makes a big difference not just to children and young people, but to whānau and the wider community.
“We know that this is happening across the country and the PM Awards is a great opportunity to share these stories so others can follow in their footsteps.
“If you know about or are part of a early learning service, kōhanga reo, ngā puna kohungahunga, school, kura and wharekura that’s achieving great things for learners, their whānau and the community, we encourage you to submit an entry to the PM Awards.”
Entries are open and will close on 5 April 2019.
