Consulting on the Annual Maximum Fee Movement rate for 2019

The Minister of Education invites submissions on a proposed Annual Maximum Fee Movement (AMFM) rate of 2% for 2019.

The Government regulates the maximum level by which tertiary education organisations (TEOs) can increase tuition fees for domestic students through the AMFM. The AMFM applies to courses at New Zealand Qualification Framework (NZQF) Level 3 or above.

The Government considers that the proposed AMFM rate of 2% strikes a balance between protecting the affordability of tertiary education for students, while allowing tertiary providers to keep pace with costs in 2019.

Submissions close 27 July 2018. The Minister will finalise the AMFM rate after considering submissions.

Go to the New Zealand Gazette website to read the notice. The notice also covers the process for allowing exceptions to the AMFM.
