Ministry of Education New Zealand

Overview

The Ministry of Education is currently working with the Board of Naenae School to amend their enrolment scheme.

The purpose of an enrolment scheme is to assist the school board to manage the risk of overcrowding, provide a fair and transparent process for enrolment and to ensure we are making the best use of schooling facilities across the network of local schools. More information about the purpose and principles of an enrolment scheme can be found on the following page.

Enrolment schemes – New Zealand Legislation

If overcrowding occurs or is likely to occur at a State school, the Ministry of Education must establish an enrolment scheme for the school.

Due to an increase in enrolments at Naenae School, the school is now at risk of overcrowding.

Enrolment schemes do mean that all families will have entitlement to attend a school that is reasonably convenient to them but won’t necessarily have the same entitlement to enrol at all state schools.

Note that all students who are already enrolled at Naenae school before the enrolment scheme commences are entitled to stay at Naenae school.
