Cellphone towers#

Cellphone towers cannot be put on school grounds. We have made this decision because of concerns in the community. Debate about cellphone towers can distract from a school's main role to provide education.

The Ministry for the Environment oversees the location of cellphone towers.

Radio frequency transmitters#

Radio frequency transmitters for broadband internet are allowed on school grounds when there is no other infrastructure available. This includes the roll-out of broadband to rural schools and their communities.
