You need to sign an IEA if:
- your work is covered by the collective agreement, but
- you're not a member of E tū.
See the IEA.
Pay and allowances
General pay and allowance information is in part 5 of the agreement.
Information about pay, hours of work and allowances specific to each role is set out in:
- part 2 for cleaners
- part 3 for caretakers
- part 4 for ground staff.
Leave
Leave entitlements are set out in part 6 of the collective agreement.
Varying employment conditions
You may be able to negotiate with your school board to have some different terms and conditions from those in your employment agreement. This must be properly recorded and signed by you, your union representative and a board representative.
This is explained in part 1.4 of the agreement.
Te Whakarōputanga Kaitiaki Kura o Aotearoa has guidelines and a template you can download and use to record variations to the terms of your agreement.

Resignation, dismissal and retirement
Both you and your employer must follow the correct processes and procedures to manage your resignation, dismissal or retirement.
This is set out in part 7 of the collective agreement.
There is no set age that you must retire from work. If you are retiring, you must give the same notice as for resignation.
