What support for inclusion funding is for

Support for inclusion funding helps schools to support students with moderate learning support needs, such as learning and behaviour difficulties.

Support for inclusion funding was previously called the Special Education Grant.

Who can get this funding

All state and state-integrated schools and kura receive support for inclusion funding.

How we calculate support for inclusion funding

Support for inclusion funding is made up of a base amount plus per-student funding based on a school’s Equity Index number.

The total amount your school could receive is the base amount, plus a per-pupil rate multiplied by the number of students enrolled on the relevant roll return date. Some schools receive the base amount only.

How the funding is paid to schools

Payments are made quarterly through the usual operational grant payment processes.
