How we calculate base funding
We set a range of funding rates by school type and size. Smaller schools get a proportionally higher amount. This is because smaller schools have many of the same running costs as larger schools.
For some school types and sizes, there is a fixed figure for any school in that range. For some types, we use a calculation to work out a specific figure within the range.
How we calculate base funding where there is a range
- Take the lowest roll figure in the roll range.
- Deduct it from the school’s resourcing roll.
- Multiply the result by the per-pupil factor.
- Deduct this result from the highest dollar figure in the range. The result is the base funding your board will receive.
