The number of allowances a school receives depends on the school’s roll and its Equity Index (EQI).
Formulas for each school type and EQI
We use different formulas depending on school type, roll and EQI to calculate pastoral care time allowance.
Adult students are not included in the rolls used.
Secondary schools#
Step 1: Roll total
Add together the school’s regular roll and STP roll, if there is any.
Step 2: Multiply roll total
Multiply the roll total from step 1 by 0.00328.
Step 3: Round up
Round up to the nearest whole number.
Step 4 by FTTE
Multiply the result from step 3 by 0.25 FTTE.
Step 1: Roll total

Multiply the roll total from step 1 by 0.00328.

Multiply the result from step 2 by (school’s EQI/400)2.
