What Policy Two funding is

Policy Two is sometimes available to integrated school proprietors to help with the cost of building a new classroom. The funding may be available if the school meets certain criteria.

Policy Two is not always available. The proprietor is responsible for providing classrooms and facilities at the school. They can apply to us to:

  • establish a school and apply for it to be integrated
  • increase the capacity of the school by applying for a maximum roll increase.

Applying for Policy Two funding

Contact your regional office to discuss applications. There are 2 types of Policy Two funding.

Classroom assistance

Proprietors can apply when filling out a maximum roll increase application. This is for 1 or 2 classrooms.

Assessment criteria for classroom-only applications

The application needs to define the local school network and must show that:

  • current demand for enrolment in that network is over 85% of its capacity
  • projected demand will go beyond the network’s current capacity within 10 years.

Whole of school funding

This is when proprietors are applying to build a new school. We seek funding from Government through the annual budget process.

We allocate funding to schools based on the amount of funding we get from Government.

Assessment criteria for a new school

An application for Policy Two funding to establish an entire new school must show that a new state school is likely to be needed within 10 years if the integrated school isn't built.

The application must also meet the above criteria for a classroom application.

Funding rate

We provide 85% of the funding provided for classrooms in state non-integrated schools. This is regardless of whether the proprietor is building a new school or expanding an existing school. We review the standard classroom budget regularly.
