Setting up an early learning service

Schools may want to lease their property to an early learning service if there is space for one. You need consent from your school board and from us to do this. Schools should discuss this with their board first before starting the process to set up a lease.

To set up a lease, contact your property advisor. They can talk through your school's situation and discuss options with you.

Lease agreements

We have a standard lease agreement for when the school is the landlord for the early learning service. Schools that use this agreement will continue to receive 5-year agreement funding (5YA) and a property maintenance grant (PMG) from us for the land and building the early learning service is on.

Lease agreements for third-party use of school land

Your property advisor will ask you to complete a third-party occupancy application form. Part G of the form has an application checklist. We recommend you read through the checklist before starting the form.

This form must be signed by 2 board members.

When lease agreements expire

Contact your property advisor if your lease is about to expire.

When an old lease agreement expires, we will provide your school with the most up-to-date agreement.
