Identify cyber security threats
Schools face a variety of cyber security threats that require them to make updates to systems, review risks, and maintain good security settings. This can be hard to prioritise, especially with limited budgets.
The cyber assistant tool can help your school improve your cyber security, cyber safety, and online privacy practices. It can:
- help you identify potential weaknesses and areas for improvement
- provide a detailed understanding of the current state of your school's cyber security, cyber safety and online privacy risk posture
- provide you with a targeted action plan that lines up with best practice and helps prioritise resources.
What the tool covers
The tool consists of 12 modules covering policies, processes, and training. Your school can choose to complete as many modules as you prefer.
Once you complete all the modules, your school will receive a personalised risk plan, highlighting the top 5 actions you can take to reduce your digital risks based on your responses.
Who should complete the self-assessment
Any staff member that has knowledge about the school’s policies and processes can complete the self-assessment.
What we do with the data from the tool
We use aggregated data from the cyber assistant tool to:
- gain insights into the overall state of cyber security, safety and privacy across the education sector
- identify sector-wide gaps and where we need to provide guidance or support.
Volunteers needed for pilot phase
We are running a pilot so we can get sector input before making the tool more widely available next year. School involvement and feedback is crucial to the success of the pilot.
