When to apply

You must apply to us if you need to:

  • change any information on your licence, including the contact person for your service provider or their details
  • change your service operating details
  • change your service provider's details
  • change your service name or details
  • change your funding or emergency contact person's details
  • change your service type
  • change or confirm your service's curriculum pathway
  • change or confirm your service's primary language
  • permanently move to new premises because the land you are currently on was acquired by the Crown.

How to apply

Centre-based and home-based early learning services must complete the below EC8 application forms.

Kōhanga reo

To access the EC8 form for kōhanga reo, contact your Ministry regional office.

Regional offices

After you apply

Your application must be complete before we can assess it. We will usually consider the application within 30 days of receiving it.

Visit to your service

We may need to visit your service before we can approve your application. An example could be if you want to change the number of children who attend, for which we need to check the size of your indoor and outdoor areas.

We will call you to arrange a time when your key staff and contact person are available.

Successful applications

If your application is successful, we will contact you by phone or email, and send you your changed licence by email or post.

Centre-based services must display the amended licence in an area where families| whānau, caregivers and visitors can see it.

If you run a home-based service, you must make the licence available to families and caregivers.
