International student visitors
The Ministry of Education provides information and guidelines for schools hosting short term international visitors. This includes visitors who intend to visit a school for 2 weeks or less, and who don't pay any fees.
Who is a visitor?
A visitor is an international student who holds a Visitor Visa issued by Immigration New Zealand for education purposes. The Ministry has categorised these students as follows.
These students will be considered as enrolled at your school if:
- the school visit is for any period from 2 weeks up to 3 months, and/or
- any period up to 3 months where the school will be receiving money for tuition or education services.
These students aren't considered enrolled at your school if:
- the school visit is for less than 2 weeks (14 calendar days), and
- the school won't be receiving money for tuition or education services.
