Te Koko o te Reo – Celebrating te reo Māori in our schools, homes and our communities

The Ministry is hosting Te Koko o Te Reo at Pipitea Marae on Wednesday 4 September.

Te Koko o Te Reo is a free public event to connect and engage ākonga, kaiako and Kāhui Āko, as well as whānau and communities with a range of quality te reo Māori rauemi, tools, programmes and initiatives both free and to purchase to support you on your te reo Māori journey. There will also be kai stalls to keep your puku full throughout the day.

Further it’s an opportunity to hear from those in the field of te reo Māori revitalisation who will share their experiences and impart knowledge of using te reo Māori in our schools, homes and our communities. Guest speakers include Dr Ruakere Hond, Pania Papa, Ani Piki-Tuari, Kingi Kiriona and many more.

The event will also be a launching pad for a new online platform to help those learning in and through te reo Māori. The online platform is based on a Māori world view framework and has been designed to help build a strong, connected and cohesive pool of resources that strengthen te reo Māori in education.

A great event for your kura, whānau and community at Pipitea Marae. Starts at 9 am and finishes at 4pm.

See the kaupapa kōrero for the list of who is speaking at the event.
