Consultation on the draft International Education Strategy is now closed.

The draft International Education Strategy

The draft strategy takes a broad look at the role of international education in supporting an equitable, high-quality, education system over the coming decade. It contains three key goals and specific actions to help deliver them:

  • Delivering an Excellent Education and Student Experience
  • Achieving Sustainable Growth
  • Developing Global Citizens

The draft strategy has been co-developed by the Ministry of Education and Education New Zealand.

The final strategy will be released in August 2018 and will replace the 2011 Leadership Statement for International Education.

Post study work rights consultation

The Minister of Immigration is consulting on proposed changes to post study work rights and the eligibility of international students’ partners and their children to work and study in New Zealand.
